किसी भारतीय विश्वविद्यालय से सम्बन्धित / संगत / सम्बद्ध विषय में 55 प्रतिशत अंक के साथ निष्णात उपाधि (अथवा जहाँ कहीं भी ग्रेडिंग प्रणाली लागू वहाँ प्वांइट स्केल में समतुल्य ग्रेड) अथवा किसी प्रत्यायित विदेशी विश्वविद्यालय से समतुल्य उपाधि।
उपर्युक्त अर्हताओं को पूरा करने के साथ-साथ अभ्यर्थी ने विश्वविद्यालय अनुदान आयोग अथवा CSIR द्वारा आयोजित राष्ट्रीय पात्रता परीक्षा (NET) उत्तीर्ण की हो अथवा विश्वविद्यालय अनुदान आयोग द्वारा प्रत्यायित इसी प्रकार की परीक्षा यथा SLET/SET उत्तीर्ण की हो अथवा जिन्हें विश्वविद्यालय अनुदान आयोग (M.Phill/ Ph.D उपाधि के लिए न्यूनतम मानक और प्रक्रिया) विनियम, 2009 अथवा 2016 और समय-समय पर इनमें बाद में किये गये संशोधनों, जैसा भी मामला हो, के अनुसार Ph.D की उपाधि प्रदान की गयी हो, NET/ SLET/ SET से छूट प्रदान की जायेगी :-
बशर्ते कि दिनांक 11 जुलाई, 2009 से पूर्व Ph.D कार्यक्रम के लिए पंजीकृत अभ्यर्थियों को उपाधि प्रदान करने वाली संस्थाओं के तत्कालीन विद्यमान अध्यादेशों / उपनियमों / विनियमों के उपबंधों द्वारा अभिशासित होंगे। ऐसे सभी पीएचडी धारक अभ्यर्थियों को निम्नलिखित शर्तों को पूरा करने के अध्याधीन विश्वविद्यालयों / महाविद्यालयों / संस्थाओं में सहायक आचार्य अथवा समतुल्य पदों पर भर्ती और नियुक्ति के लिए NET/ SLET/ SET की अपेक्षा से छूट प्रदान की जाएगी
