Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) has released an official notification for taking admission in the Class 9 and 11 in the all JNVs through Lateral Entry Selection Test (LEST) 2027 to the academic session 2027-28. All eligible boys, girls and their parents can apply online through the official NVS website navodaya.gov.in from 02nd September 2026 till the last date of application submission 30th September 2026 for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) class 9th and 11th class admission session 2027-28.

The Lateral Entry Selection Test (LEST) is a highly competitive entry point for filling vacant seats in established JNVs. Parents should note a critical rule: the candidate's district of residence, current district of study, and the target JNV district must match perfectly. Discrepancies in residency and school location documents are the most common reasons for rejection during document verification.
Only those candidates who are Bonafide residents & studying Class VIII during the Academic Session 2026-27 in one of the Govt./ Govt. recognized schools of the district where the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is functioning and where admission is sought, are eligible.
District of residence and district of class VIII study should be same in respect of candidates who desire to apply for admission to class IX (session 2027-28) in the JNV located in the same district.
Date of Birth of the candidate must be between 1st May 2012 to 31st July 2014 (both days inclusive). This is applicable to all categories of candidates including those who belong to the SC/ ST/ OBC/ Divyang.
Date of Birth of the candidate must be between 1st June 2010 to 31st July 2012 (both days inclusive). This is applicable to all categories of candidates including those who belong to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. Candidates who have passed class X prior to the session 2026-27 are not eligible. Candidates who are studying in class X during the session 2026-27 only are eligible to apply.
The candidate must be studying in Class X from a Govt./ Govt. recognized school (affiliated to CBSE or any other State Education Board/ other Govt. recognized Board) of the district where the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is located during the academic session 2026-27 (April 2026 to March 2027 session) / (January 2026 to December 2026 session).
